Limbs Over the Roof? We'll Trim Them Back the Right Way.
Branches scraping the shingles, dead limbs over the driveway, an oak so thick it blocks every bit of sun. Trimming fixes all of those without losing the tree.
Proper pruning cuts, no topping, no climbing spikes on trees you're keeping.
Call (256) 829-7070Done right, a trim makes the tree healthier and safer in storms. Done wrong, it ruins the tree.
Typical price in Huntsville: $300–$1,500
Depends on tree size, how many trees and how much access we have.
How we handle tree trimming & pruning
Good pruning is mostly about which limbs to take, not how many. We take out dead wood, crossing and rubbing limbs, and weight hanging over the roof or driveway, and we cut back to a branch collar so the wound closes.
We don't top trees and we don't wear spikes on a tree you're keeping. Topping leaves big wounds that rot and pushes out weak sprouts that break in the next storm. Spikes punch holes in live bark.
Typical goals are clearance off the roof and gutters, headroom over the drive and walk, and a lighter, more open crown that lets wind pass through. Brush is chipped and hauled the same day.

Trimming for North Alabama Storms
Spring storms and occasional ice storms are what break limbs here. Thinning a dense crown lets wind pass through and takes weight off long limbs.
Water oaks and pin oaks around Huntsville drop deadwood constantly. Taking it out keeps it from falling on cars and people.
Late fall through winter is a good time to trim many hardwoods, since leaves are off and we can see the structure. But dead or hazardous limbs can come out any time.
What this covers
- Structural Pruning, Crown Cleaning & Roof Clearance —
What moves the price
- Tree height, trunk diameter, and canopy spread (a wide oak weighs far more than a straight pine of the same height)
- What sits underneath — open lawn where limbs can be dropped vs. roping every piece over a roof, pool cage, fence, or power drop
- Equipment access — whether a bucket truck can pull into the driveway or we need a narrow-gate lift, climbers, or a crane
- Wood and brush disposal — full haul-off of heavy trunk logs vs. leaving firewood rounds stacked on acreage
- Whether you want the stump ground below grade and surface roots chased at the same time

Why homeowners call us
- We actually answer the phone — or call back the same day.
- We look at the tree and yard access in person before quoting a real number.
- We tell you when structural pruning or weight reduction is enough instead of pushing a full removal.
- We lay down ground protection mats to protect your lawn, driveway, and sprinkler heads while we work.
- We rake up and haul off every branch and log before we call the job done.
What you can expect from us
Safe tree work comes down to rigging control, the right equipment for your yard, and a crew that respects your property.
We lower heavy limbs on ropes over roofs, fences, and pool enclosures instead of dropping them blind, and we clean up the yard before we leave.
If something doesn't look right when we're done, walk the yard with us before we pack up the truck.
Questions we get a lot
How often should trees be trimmed?
Most mature shade trees do well with a trim every three to five years, sooner for trees over the house.
Do you top trees?
No. Topping damages trees and makes them more dangerous over time.
Will trimming hurt my tree?
Not when the cuts are made correctly and we don't take too much at once.
